Plum Yard / Švestkový Dvůr
The Plum Yard is an organisation established in 2013 by members of Continuo Theatre and their collaborators. It’s located in South Bohemia, in the little village of Malovice.
The Plum Yard’s main activities include running a cultural centre with a regular programme that hosts theatre and dance companies, music ensembles, performances for adults, children and families (performing arts and music). They provide short- and long-term residencies for artists from different backgrounds: visual arts, performing arts, music and literature. They also organise community activities and community outreach.
The mission of the Plum Yard is to create conditions for artistic and cultural collaboration through dialogue between an international organism of artistic creation, research, and the specific, rooted culture that surrounds it. Plum Yard enriches cultural and neighbouring life not only locally but is a significant cultural promoter throughout the region.
What makes your organisation unique?
The cultural centre is unique because of its location on the edge of a small village. In dramaturgy it presents performances or creations that cannot be seen elsewhere within the region. For artists, it is very valuable to create a peaceful, quiet place surrounded by nature without the noise of the city.
